When technology transcends functionality and reaches the world of art, it is ripe for a Good Design Award. This prestigious prize, which was launched by icons of design Charles and Ray Eames, pays tribute to the most avant-garde creations.
The ART TECH watch is a perfect incarnation of this vision. This unique creation, which recently earned the prize, blends haute horlogerie and an innovative idea, namely using a silicon wafer bearing microelectronic circuits as a dial.
The watch features a scintillating dial that turns into a kaleidoscope of vibrating colours every time you move your wrist. This veritable techno-art breakthrough has been sculpted from an innovative, and demanding, material, but it is well worth the mesmerising visual experience.
The ART TECH watch will be one of the centrepieces at the 10th Only Watch auction, which is run by the Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies (AMM). It was founded with the mission to find a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy and is under the patronage of HRH Prince Albert II of Monaco.
